Great American Smokeout Activities

Great American Smokeout is marked on the third Thursday of November. It was established by the American Cancer Society in 1977.

With smokers the brain nicotine sensitive centers are depressed, and therefore, the ends of the nerves stemming from them fail to produce enough substances that are needed for normal building and functioning of tissues. As a result of smoking, nerve degeneration of many tissues and organs is observed with subsequent predisposition to various diseases.

Cancer is more likely to develop where there is chronic inflammation and degeneration, which is why smokers are more cancer-prone.

And not only it is lung cancer or bronchogenic carcinoma, but also cancer of esophagus, stomach, large intestine; carcinoma of uterine tubes and breast cancer in women.

    Think about it ...
