      Columbus Day falls on the second Monday of October, Americans celebrates Christopher Columbus arrival in the Americas. Columbus came to the land of America on October 12, 1492.Columbus was born in Italy, and he was looking for sponsors in Europe for his expedition to discover new lands. Italian population of New York organized the first celebration of the discovery of USA on October 12, 1866.The first official celebration of Columbus day observed in the USA was 400th anniversary in 1892.

      People across the world remember and thank him for his contribution to the discovery of America. Pay attention to the fact that Americans may not have had a holiday like Columbus Day if he had not the Europeans. Italians are celebrated on October 12 in San Francisco they called it Columbus Day. Colorado was the first state to celebrate Columbus Day. In the next thirty years, began to celebrate Columbus Day and in other States. In 1937 President Franklin Roosevelt passed a law on the celebration of Columbus Day October 12. Since 1971 brought an amendment to the law, and Columbus Day is celebrated every second Monday in October.

      In honor of Columbus Day parade held on 5th Avenue in New York. Parades and spectacles are held not only in New York as often and in many other cities. In recent years many people have refused to celebrate Columbus Day because they think it genocide and conquest. Many Latin Americans celebrate this day as Da de la Raza (Day of the Race). It is also Columbus Day celebrates the Latin America, and holds various festivals and concerts.

      On this day, parents tell Columbus Day history for kids, play games, organize recreational activities. For children who attend school there are many cultural events. Children in the classroom make Columbus Day craft. Materials from which the craft makes are egg cartons, cardboard, paper, boxes, string, crayons, paint, glue, etc.

      Crafts and various activities to help children learn more about Columbus and how he discovered America. Columbus Day activities for kindergarten are also the very important part of parenting, and the program in their teaching.

      These days, many Americans like to use Columbus Day jokes. Americans come up with jokes about Columbus because many of them do not believe in its existence and what he discovered America.
