Mother's Day 2015
Sunday, May 10, 2015

Mother's Day falls on the second Sunday of May each year. This holiday is dedicated to thousands and millions of mothers who spend a lot of time raising and caring for their children. This is an important holiday for all Americans because no matter what your race, religion, political beliefs are all the little children and adults love their mothers dearly.

Children of all ages are doing something special for their mothers on this day. Children show their moms how dear to them they are and how much they are appreciated. In the morning, children prepare breakfast in bed for mother, give original Mother’s Day gifts that are either bought in stores or made themselves. Breakfast, gifts and Mother’s Day slogans show how much children love and respect their mother.
Mother's Day is often called Mom’s Day.

History of Mothers Day

Mother's Day in the United States has been celebrated since 1908. This does not mean that previously there were no ideas for the establishment of such a holiday. There were several movements that did not give any results.

The first Mother's Day was marked in West Virginia. It was organized by Anna Jarvis in 1908; she wanted to make a national holiday that would be focused on the importance of the mother.

According to Anna, woman's rights were infringed upon, and she struggled hard to be heard. She appealed to the president for federal support of the holiday.
In 1914, President Woodrow Wilson signed a law on the establishment of Mother's Day.

Traditions of Mother's Day

On this day mothers become a very special object of great care and love. Children usually cook breakfast or dinner for their mothers and give them some springtime flowers, or Mother’s Day fruit bouquets.

The weather on this day is quite suitable for some outdoor activities. Because the holiday is celebrated on the second Sunday of May, it’s usually very warm and Nature is all abloom at that time.

Going out for picnics is the best way to enjoy the holiday.

Mother's Day proceedings occur in several stages:

• Any member of the family serves breakfast in mom’s bed.
• Then the family goes to the shopping center or the local park.
• After the walk, the family goes to a restaurant or home for lunch.
• Once the family has finished dinner, Mom is committed to what most of all loves, giving gifts.
• After dinner, the families play board games or go to bed because the next day is a working day and they need to get up early.

On this day funny Mother’s Day poems from daughters can be heard in many American homes.

Many churches hold a special morning service on Mother's Day. For Christian families, it is an important part of Mother's Day celebration. Throughout the service the church hold a special ceremony for the mothers who are in church. Prayers are pronounced for mothers to have the strength to continue their motherly duties. Church members buy Mother’s Day flowers before the service to be given to mothers during the service.
